Welcome to Tempe's Svob Park. This urban park was named for Robert Svob, a New Mexican who moved to Arizona as a child in 1918 and served on the labor force in the construction of the Coolidge Dam. The man was also known for hosting a gardening show in the 1950's and helped out with the local Boy Scouts and even served as a councilman in the 1960's. Svob's main contributions to the City of Tempe came from his over 40 years of working at Arizona State University where he helped beautify the school grounds. Today this park boasts a lighted basketball court, a picnic area with grills, a soccer field, and much more. Come on out and have a blast!
This park was RecPlanet place of the day on October 28, 2014.
