Baker Island National Wildlife Refuge



Welcome to Baker Island National Wildlife Refuge located 1,600 miles southwest of Honolulu approximately 20 miles north of the equator.

Refuge History: Some of the first people to discover Baker Island were Polynesians but they left no traces. More recently European explorers visited Baker Island and left structures including a cemetery and lighthouse to be discovered in 1987.
