Welcome to the beautiful Tecolote Canyon Park located outside of San Diego, California. Long before the first Europeans arrived in the region this land was occupied by the Kumeyaay Native American tribe. They named this place Tecolote or "Owl" Canyon due to the large presense of owls here. One of the first white settlers in the region was a man named Judge Hyde who set up a ranch here in 1872. In the spring of 1978 it was finally made into a park. There are over 6 miles of multipurpose trails just waiting to be explored.
