Welcome to Gateway Natural Area located in the Rocky Mountains just 15 miles outside of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Park History: Gateway Natural Area traces it's roots back to 1903 when the City of Fort Collins built a water treatment facility at the confluence of the Cache La Poudre River and it's tributary. Over the years a small park developed and during the Great Depression the Civilian Conservation Corps helped to build the park's facilities. In the 1970's safety issues closed the park to the public and was off limits again in the late 1980's due to various water issues. In 2002, the City of Fort Collins re-opened the park.

This park boasts awesome fishing opportunities, picnic tables, over a mile of trails, and so much more. Come on out and explore!

The phone number is 970-407-1106.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on November 9, 2016.
