Some of the parks wildlife include black bears, coyote, weasels, bobcats, mountain lions, and snowshoe hares.
Park History: At one point Mud Lake was known as Muskee Lake. Many of the lands near the park were utilized for silver mining as far back as the 1870's. In 1904, one company known as the Wolf Tongue Mining Company and the Primos Chemical Company began to do operations on the land that is now Mud Lake Park. The Colorado Tungsten Corporation soon followed after them. After World War I devastated the mining industry most of the land became used for agricultural purposes and eventually for trash dumping as residential development encroached. The land was purchased by the county in 1999. The park has over 3 miles of multi-purpose trails and allows for dogs to come on leash. Come on out and explore!
