Dick's Creek Swimming Hole!

Before I had my injury this summer, the Dick's Creek Swimming Hole was my favorite place to escape the Atlanta heat. In order to get there, you must travel GA 400/US 19 north of Atlanta. GA 400 ends in Dahlonega but U.S. 19 keeps going, follow the signs for U.S. 19 and it will take you into the mountains, after a while you will see a sign that says Chestatee Wildlife Management Area, take that gravel road for a few miles and you will arrive at the swimming hole.

This swimming hole is my favorite one in Georgia. There are two sliding rocks, both of which have a perfectly safe landing, and there is Dick's Creek Falls which you can swim under at the bottom, but the last person who tried to slide down it I ended up having to help carry up the hill to her friend's jeep and recommended she be taken to the nearest Emergency Room.

I recently met a very nice family there and I acted as their little tour guide. We have managed to keep in touch via facebook and e-mail. They were even nice enough to send me a couple of post cards.

The water at this swimming hole is cool, clear, and clean, I have drank it before. I have stayed at this swimming hole for hours and it's wonderful exercise and great fun!
