First Hike to Blue Hole Falls in 5 years
Yesterday I woke up in the North Georgia mountains and decided to do something I had not done in about half a decade, go over to the Blue Hole Fails trailhead just off of Georgia 75 north of Helen, Georgia. Once I got there I met some people who had just finished who were nice enough to offer me a Rice Krispies bar. I started down the trail with much excitement for this is my favorite waterfall out of countless waterfalls in north Georgia. Once I got down there I was hot and sweaty and dove into the pool just below the falls with satisfaction.
While swimming I saw a few people come and go including a trio of women from the northern Atlanta area. On my hike back I met a very nice Cajun trio from New Orleans, Ed, Blaine, and Barbara. I decided to go back down the trail in order to show them both Blue Hole Falls and the other falls below it. We had some fun conversations along the way and a few laughs on the subject of movies. Our biggest laughs were on the movie Tropic Thunder. Ed, like my father was and my sister is, is an attorney. He was the only one in his group who was tough enough to go into the swimming hole just under Blue Hole Falls. It's a deep swimming hole, perhaps 9 feet deep at least at it's deepest point. I told them I would write a blog post about our hike and though I am a little late, better late than never.
