Welcome to Florida's beautiful Egmont Key State Park located in the Gulf of Mexico just off of Tampa Bay. History lovers will love this park that can only be accessed by boat. This park has some structures that were built in the 19th century that still stand today including a lighthouse from 1858 and a military encampment that housed Seminole POW's during the Third Seminole War and Union Sailors during the Civil War. The island was named in honor of a notable 18th century Irishman who was a member of the House of Commons and the Earl of Egmont, John Perceval.
