Welcome to Green Springs Park located on the shores of Lake Monroe in Enterprise, Florida. Park History: This beautiful park is the site of one of Florida's few green sulfer springs which the Seminole and Mayaca Tribes believed had healing powers. In 1841 a man named Cornelius Taylor tourned the place into a tourist attraction by building a small hotel on the site. Many tourists flocked to the region and, like the Native Americans, also believed in the site's healing powers. In 1883 the land belonged to a man named Frederick DeBary, for whom the town of DeBary is named. DeBary was a big winemaker and steamboat baron.
Unfortunately today swimming is not allowed in the springs, and neither is fishing, but there are numerous nature trails to be explored and one can expect to see gopher tortoises, white-tailed deer, frogs, raccoons, grey squirrels, and many others. Come out and have fun!
