Welcome to Jacksonville's J.S. Johnson Park. Park History: The City of Jacksonville first purchased this land in the late 1960's and named it after the Reverend John S. Johnson of the local Saint Stephens African Methodist Episcopal Church. Johnson was also involved in the local chapter of the NAACP and served on the board of directors for the Eartha M. White Nursing Home and Edward Waters college. Today this park boasts two tennis courts, a picnic shelter, and three playgrounds for the residents and visitors of Jacksonville. Come on out and have fun.
