Stockton Park

Jacksonville, Florida

Welcome to the beautiful Stockton Park located in downtown Jacksonville, Florida on the banks of the Saint John's River. This park was first established in 1909 as Ortega Park and was expanded over half a century later. Eventually it was renamed for Real Estate Developer John Stockton, president of the Ortega Company which built many communities in the Jacksonville Area. Stockton was known for his big heart and public service, particularly his work during Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1888. In 2004 this park was added to the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of Interior.
