Atlanta Georgia Parks

Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park is a symbol of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and a permanent reminder that Atlanta, Georgia will forever be an Olympic City. The flags of many nations fly in this park and for many years people have cooled down in it's sprayground on hot summer days. In the summers of 2008 and 2009 it was the site of Screen on the Green before it returned to Piedmont Park. On July 27, 1996 a pipe bomb went off in this park killing one person and injuring more than 100 others. When visiting this park one must not forget about the tragedies of that day.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on July 19, 2016 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the day the torch was lit in Atlanta.
