Welcome to Georgia's number one tourist attraction, the magnificent Stone Mountain Park. Stone Mountain itself rises 820 feet above the surrounding area and 1,686 feet above sea level and makes for a great hike up. It is the largest exposed piece of granite in the world and, like the nearby Appalachian Mountains, is over 350 million years old. The summit gives visitors great views of the Atlanta skyline to the west and the Appalachian Mountains to the north. The larger than Mount Rushmore carving features 3 confederal men Thomas Stonewall Jackson, Jefferson E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis
Boating: The park's lake is a no wake zone and there is no swimming. It is okay to go fishing though so come out and launch a craft.
