Welcome to Chicago's Armstrong Park. This park was known as Park 492 for many years until 2004 when the park district made an effort to recognize famous notable women from the Chicago Area. It was renamed after a famous Jazz Musician, composer, and band leader, Lillian Hardin Armstrong, the wife of Louis Armstrong and a member of the New Orleans Creole Band. Armstrong passed away in 1971 just one month after her husband. Today this park boasts many recreational opportunities for the residents and visitors of Chicago. Come on out and have fun!
