Welcome to Chicago's Back of the Yards Park located in the New City community. This park was first established in the late 1940's in order to meet the growing recreational needs of the post World War II era. For years it was known as Throop Park but was renamed Back of the Yards Park in 1999 after a second Throop Park was established. Back of the Yards has long been a nickname for this part of the city. All the facilities are lighted so people can play at night.
