Welcome to Chicago's Graver Park located south of the downtown area. During the roaring 1920's the population of the local Beverly neighborhood mushroomed by 80% and the Ridge Park District began to purchase this land in 1928 and in the mid 1930's the last parcels were purchased and the land was transferred to the Chicago Park District. The park was commonly known as Church Street Park and Park 179 until it was official named Graver Park in the early 1950's in honor of a local steelmaker and former Vice President of the Chicago Park district Philip Graver, who passed away in 1945. Today Graver Park boasts a sprayground, tennis courts, soccer fields, and much more for local residents and visitors. Come out and have fun!
