Hamilton Park
Welcome to Chicago's Hamilton Park located on 72nd Street not far from Interstate 94.
Park History: In the early 20th Century Chicago's South Park Commission had a new vision for city parks. They realized that the existing city parks were just too far away from the noisy and crowded inner city and that the new type of park would not only offer beautiful scenery but also offer the visitor various services. With the help of nationally renowned architects Daniel H Burnham and Company and the Olmstead Brothers the South Park Commission opened up the first 10 "neighborhood" parks in 1905. Out of these 10, Hamilton Park was the only one to be named after a political figure, Alexander Hamilton, one of the founders of the United States and the man whose face is on the ten dollar bill.
Today this park provides many opportunities for Chicago's residents and visitors. Come on out and have a blast!
