Howard Beach Park
Welcome to Chicago's beautiful Howard Beach Park located on the shore of Lake Michigan in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Howard Beach Park, along with 17 other beachfront properties, was purchased by the City in 1959. This park is named for one of the earlier settlers of the Rogers Park Area, Howard Scion Ure. The Ure family was heavily involved in agriculture and even founded their own dairy company. Howard Ure himself was not a farmer but a banker and became the director of the Howard Avenue National Trust and Savings bank as young as the age of 26 before going to become the director of the North Shore National Bank of Chicago years later.
