Welcome to Hawthorne Hill Park located in Elgin, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago. This wonderful nature preserve helps protect a woodland and wetland habitat that provides home for white-tailed deer, blue herons, red-tailed hawks, peregrine falcons, snapping turtles, a singing frog chorus, and many others. For the human visitor there are numerous youth programs offered year-round. Roughly a third of what is todays Hawthorn Hill Park was once a girl scout camp known as Hawthorne Hill that was operated from 1938 until 1972. Many people come here to enjoy the marvelous hiking and bird watching this place has to offer. Come out and explore!

*All motor vehicles must stay in designated areas and obey 15 m.p.h. speed limit and all State of Illinois traffic laws.
*Don't be a litterbug. Please put all trash in proper containers.
*Consumption of alcoholic beverages requires special permit.
*Do not disturb any plants or animals.
*Unless otherwise posted all parks open at dawn and close at dusk.
*All dogs must be leashed.
*All fires are restricted to picnic grills.
