Welcome to the Route 60 Canoe Launch located on the banks of the Des Plaines River near Mettawa, Illinois. The land needed to build this canoe launch was first purchased in 1973 and in 1984 the canoe launch was added to the Forest Preserve District. This launch gives boaters access to the Des Plaines River and each year the largest and longest downstream canoe race in the State of Illinois takes place on the Des Plaines River, the annual Canoe Marathon. Come on out and explore.
