Welcome to the beautiful Herrick Lake Forest Preserve in Naperville, Illinois. This landscape was carved out by the retreat of the Wisconsin Glacier thousands of years ago. In the 1830's this land was the homestead of a man named Ira Herrick. The forest preserve district purchased the first tract of land as far back as 1925. This preserve is home to over 470 species of plants and 254 species of animals. For the outdoor enthusiast there are over five miles of multipurpose trails.
