Des Plaines Fish and Wildlife Area
Welcome to the Des Plaines Fish and Wildlife Area, a peaceful setting of natural prairie and flowing rivers near Wilmington, Illinois.
Park History: In 1948, the State of Illinois purchased this land from the U.S. Government for use as a recreation area and became a popular hunters destination. Today, over 350,000 people visit the Des Plaines Fish and Wildlife Area each year to enjoy the more than 200 acres of fishing (catfish, panfish, and bass), the three boat ramps, and the more than 12 miles of multipurpose trails. Come on out and explore.
