Metea County Park

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Welcome to Metea County Park, a forest and wetland oasis located in northern Allen County near Fort Wayne, Indiana on the banks of Cedar Creek.

Park History: Metea County Park was named after a chief of the Potawatomi tribe who governed a village called Muskwawsepeotan (meaning town on the old red wood creek) on the banks of Cedar Creek not far from the present day park. It is believed that the village was established in the late 18th century when the tribe first moved into the region.

For the lover of the outdoors Metea County Park boasts the State designated Scenic River Cedar Creek, a playing field suitable for various types of activities, over five miles of multipurpose trails for all seasons, several picnic tables and grills, the Gloria Goeglin Nature Center, and so much more. Come on out and explore.
