Francis Park
Welcome to Francis Park located in Saint Louis, Missouri. This piece of land was once an operating farm owned by a man named David Rowland Francis in the late 19th Century. Francis would later serve as Mayor of St. Louis in 1885 and as Governor of Missouri from 1889 to 1893. For part of his term as Governor up until 1904 he served as the President of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition and offered to allow his land to be the site of the St. Louis World's Fair but due to various complications the Fair was held at Forest Park instead. In 1916 Francis became the U.S. Ambassador to Russia and generously donated his land to the City of St. Louis as a Christmas Gift. Today this park boasts many amenities for the residents and visitors of St. Louis including eight tennis courts, two softball fields, and much more. Come on out and have fun.
