Lemay Park

Saint Louis, Missouri

The area inside and around Lemay Park was once a residential neighborhood, but the devastating Flood of 1993 resulted in some changes in zoning as well as the removal of some older buildings that date as far back as the turn of the 20th century. Federal Emergency Management Agency funds exercised eminent domain in 1993 and 1994 and helped Saint Louis County purchase this land. In October 1996, former Vice-President Al Gore dedicated this new park in his re-election campaign. Today's facilities which include a basketball court, a sprayground, and a picnic shelter, are built flood safe. Come out and have fun!
