Welcome to Sean Hunter Ryan Memorial Park located in West Nyack, New York. This park was first purchased by Rockland County in 1996 with a grant from the Intermodal Service Transportation Equity Act. In 2003 the park was named in memory of Sean Hunter Ryan, a local resident of Rockland with a love for the outdoors who got a job as a ranger in Mount Rainier National Park in Washington and lost his life in 1995 in a rescue operation. Today this park offers a hiking trail for the human visitor and helps protect the home of skunks, white-tailed deer, red-tailed hawks, raccoons, wild turkeys, and others. Come on out and explore.

This park was RecPlanet place of the day on November 29, 2014.
