Big Creek Park

Chardon, Ohio

Welcome to Big Creek Park located in Chardon, Ohio. This land was purchased by a man named Samuel Mather in 1926 who had the dream of building a classy resort on the land. The Great Depression put an end to Mather's dream and he decided to donate roughly half of his 1,000+ acres to the State of Ohio in 1955 with the hopes that the land would be preserved for generations to come. Ten years later, the Geauga Park District began a lease agreement with the State of Ohio and in 1990 the land was finally transferred to Geauga County. Today this park boasts multipurpose trails, campgrounds (must have permit), and much more. Come on out and explore!
