Tennessee State Forests

Welcome to Lone Mountain State Forest located in Morgan County, Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau.

Forest History: That land that is now Lone Mountain State Forest was acquired by the State of Tennessee from the Morgan County Chancery Court in 1929 and from a deed transfer by the Lone Mountain Land Company in 1939. Up until 1970 it was considered to be the Lone Mountain Section of Morgan State Forest until Morgan State Forest became part of the State Parks division and Lone Mountain became it's own State Forest. In 2002, the forest was devastated by a hurricane.   Wildlife: Lone Mountain State Forest helps protect the home of numerous wild animals including white-tailed deer, coyotes, foxes, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, wild turkeys, and hawks. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors Lone Mountain State Forest boasts over 15 miles of trails, beautiful scenery, and much more. Come on out and have a blast!
