Welcome to Moraine Park located in Highland Park, Illinois along the shore of Lake Michigan. In 1892 the Hotel Moraine first opened on this site. It was a beautiful hotel with over 200 rooms, a swimming pool, and gardens. In May of 1970, the hotel closed for business. Today the visitor to Moraine Park can see some of the remains of the old structures and gardens. Before the City of Highland Park purchased the land, there were proposals to build a high rise apartment building on the site. Today this park boasts an off leash dog beach and helps protect the home of white-tailed deer, and several shorebird species. Come out and have fun.
