Welcome to Cedar Lake Bog Nature Preserve in Lake Villa, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. Cedar Lake itself, like many lakes in the midwest, was carved out by glacial treat of the Wisconian ice sheet at the end of the last ice age thousands of years ago. This preserve was first established in August 1975.
