Welcome to Fourth Lake Forest Preserve! This preserve helps to protect portions of Fourth Lake, three ponds, wetlands, and groves of oak, spruce, and pine. The park also boasts multi-purpose trails for the avid outdoorsman. One of the trails is the Millenium Greenway which connects up to many other nearby recreation areas.

Preserve History: The land that is now the Fourth Lake Forest Preserve was once slated to be a portion of the proposed Venetian Village subdivision. However due to concerns of flooding, the land was spared and made into a Forest Preserve. Lake County began to purchase the land in 1983 and some of the parcels were donated. Today the preserve provides habitat for numerous endangered and threatened species. Come on out and explore.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on April 10, 2017.
