Welcome to McRae Park located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Formerly known as Chicago and 46th Park, this park was named after Alexander McRae, a local banker who also served many years on the parks board as both a commissioner and later as president. There was a growing need for recreational space in the southern section of Minneapoils and in 1947 the city purchased this piece of land for a price of $24K. Most of the park's amenities were developed in the 1950's and additional improvements were made in the 1990's. Today this park is home to the active McRae Recreation center and also boasts two tennis courts, a full sized basketball court, an ice-hockey rink that can be used for roller-hockey during the non-winter season, both a sand and a paved volleyball court, a multipurpose field for soccer and football, softball fields, and more.
