Phelps Park
Welcome to Phelps Park located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The City of Minneapolis first purchased this land in 1916 and for many years was known as Chicago Avenue Field. The well respected Theodore Wirth helped to develop many of the park's amenities and in 1939 the site was renamed in honor of Edmund Phelps, a man who served on the parks board longer than most men of his generation. Phelps was an avid horseback rider and also donated the beautiful turtle shaped Phelps Fountain. This park has an open multipurpose field, a tennis court, and so much more.
