Central Park
Welcome to Central Park located in Skokie, Illinois.
Park History: The land that is now Central Park was first purchased by the City of Skokie in 1931 for a price of $65,000. Over the years amenities were added including a spray fountain for hot summer days, a picnic area, ball fields, and a playground. In 1990 the Spray Pool was demolished and a year later in 1991 the park underwent a series of renovations including a new playground, drainage improvements, pipe replacements, a walking trail around the perimeter, basketball courts, trash cans, four tennis courts, and new trees. The total cost of the renovation reached $566,000. In 1993 subterranean water storage facilities were constructed and in 1995 the picnic shelter was replaced. Today this park boasts four tennis courts, a playground, two baseball fields, 16 picnic tables, four half basketball courts, and much more. Come on out and have fun.
