Park History: Back in 1929, what was then the Niles Park district purchased 62 acres of land from the Cook County Forest Preserve Disctrict for a price of $62,000. This land was divided up into Oakton Park, Oakton Community College, and Emily Park. For many decades Emily Park was an undeveloped nature preserve until the park district built a $207,000 nature center on the site in the 1980s. In 1993 and 1994 the park underwent a $258,000 renovation in which it got trails, a shoreline deck, a playground, three shelters, and am amphitheater.
