Welcome to Hildebrand Ranch Park located in Jefferson County, Colorado.
Park History: One of the first white men to settle the land that is now Hildebrand Ranch Park was a man named Frank Hildebrand who first settled in the region in 1866 to set up a farm and a ranch. In 1950 there were plans to use this land to build a reservoir in order to protect the Denver Area from flash floods but the funds to build this reservoir were never raised. In 1965 serious flooding along the South Platte River occurred causing massive property damage and thirteen casualties. In 1971 the U.S. Government used eminent domain to purchase a piece of the Hildebrand Ranch for the reservoir. 30 years later in 2001, the remaining acreage of the Hildebrand Ranch was sold to Jefferson County.
Wildlife: Hildebrand Ranch Park helps protect the home of numerous wild animals including mountain lions, black bears, mule deer, elk, white-tailed deer, hawks, and owls. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts over five miles of trails, beautiful scenery, and much more. Come on out and explore!
