Northwest Georgia from 14,000 feet
Monday, July, 25, 2016
iceyt1981

Yesterday was the third time in my life I have done this. The first time was April of 2004 and the second time was July 24, 2010. I decided to go once again this past weekend so I drove out to Cedartown on Saturday but I ended up being disappointed because the cloud cover was just too much. I have nothing against clouds, just not THAT many, it was total overcast and I like being able to have a nice view on both the flight and the fall. Saturday was July 23 and perhaps it was by more than just chance that I decided to postpone my jump because the fact that I did it on Sunday the 24th made it the 6 year...Read More

Point Break was just a movie. This is REAL!
Sunday, May, 29, 2016
iceyt1981

Looking at this article reminds me of the end of the 1991 Keanu Reeves Patrick Swayze movie Point Break. This guy has real big balls and a few screws loose. Some people get a real high off of danger. And this guy is no exception.

Recreation is important for dogs too!
Tuesday, May, 24, 2016
iceyt1981

Woof Woof! Bark Bark! Man's best friend they call them. I had a great dog for 13 and a half years and I miss her like crazy. More and more cities around the United States are putting in dog parks so be sure to go out there and take your dog. Having a healthy dog includes making sure the dog gets plenty of exercise. It is also a great way to meet your neighbors.

While engaging in aquatic recreation in Florida watch out for Nile Crocodiles
Tuesday, May, 24, 2016
iceyt1981

Never smile at a crocodile! So goes the saying, and that is very true, because to them you may look like a meal. I myself have had a few encounters with American alligators and I have never had an issue, but crocs are a whole different animal, especially the ones from Africa, Asia, and Australia. Niles are not as dangerous as the salties but they are still quite aggressive. My cousin Gregg had one hiss at him while he was on a golf course in Africa. Now they are saying that there are a few Nile crocs in Florida so to...Read More

Tanker Surfing!
Monday, May, 23, 2016
iceyt1981

How gnarly is this? Sufers in Galveston Bay in Texas have found a way to take advantage of the wake created by oil tankers each of which weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 tons. One local citizen James Fulbright has been doing this for 20 years. I guess we could all say that James is "Full" of "Bright" Ideas. Just don't come back covered in tar.

First Hike to Blue Hole Falls in 5 years
Saturday, June, 13, 2015
iceyt1981

Yesterday I woke up in the North Georgia mountains and decided to do something I had not done in about half a decade, go over to the Blue Hole Fails trailhead just off of Georgia 75 north of Helen, Georgia. Once I got there I met some people who had just finished who were nice enough to offer me a Rice Krispies bar. I started down the trail with much excitement for this is my favorite waterfall out of countless waterfalls in north Georgia. Once I got down there I was hot and sweaty and dove into the pool just below the falls with satisfaction.

Altitude, over 1075 feet above Fourth Ward Park
Sunday, November, 16, 2014
iceyt1981

It sure has been a while since I last made a post. I used to have two kites, sadly The Spirit of Saint George was lost a couple of weeks ago in extremely high winds. Amelia IV I still have. I took her to Fourth Ward Park on Saturday November 15th and the wind was different on that day, in that it came from the east instead of the west, but that presented a unique opportunity.

WSB's tower stands over Fourth Ward Park and neighboring Freedom Parkway. A source I read online said that the tower...Read More

Summer Hike at Constitution Lakes Park
Saturday, July, 05, 2014
iceyt1981

Just the other day I took my first hike at Constitution Lakes in a long time. It is a place I have long liked due to it's scenic wetlands beauty. The county could not have possibly made a more wise choice when spending the money from their open space bond. It makes a great place for bird-watching as well as watching flights approaching and departing from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. There are blue herons, ducks, geese, red-tailed hawks, just to name a few. It is not only the natural beauty of this park that I like but also the historic beauty. There used to be a brick-making facility...Read More

Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?
Friday, June, 20, 2014
Cloud_surfer

It's cramped. Five grown men inside a space that looks to be made for three. The roaring of the engine is deafening. A slight sensation in the pit of your stomach as your mind and body tell you something isn't right. "You're a human, you aren't supposed to do something like this" Seconds feel like hours. Minutes like days. Breathing more than usual but still feeling like you need more. And then the door opens and you fling yourself from a moving aircraft at 14,000 feet. Every concern you had before you left is gone. No problem you have is strong enough to survive the immense amount of adrenaline flowing through your veins. Complete freedom....Read More
